Blackout Survival Kit
Here's a slacker's account about the typhoon Milenyo especially the Luzon-wide blackout(written during the blackout):

Roughly anybody in Luzon has been bored to death this very point in time.  Well, this Luzon-wide blackout has caused this severe boredom due to typhoon Milenyo which is said to be the most "destructive" typhoon that has ever hit our country since Rosing.  Well, let me ask you this: This very moment when there's no electric power, given, it has been absolutely DULL, but what can you do at least strategically to fight this unrelenting feeling of boredom which is a SEED to become a ripen insanity in the not-so-far future?  I won't give any advice for I'm no "good" when it comes to this BUT there's no harm in trying, isn't it guys hehe?  So what I'm doing now to somehow fight this said unrelenting feeling while many others have probably been struggling to remember those Batibot episodes for them to story-tell is just typing this(I'm using my father's laptop in case you've been wondering why I can, sort of, walk on water) and I can say I'm doing a little "productivity" for my own sake.  So my general advice(which would later boil down to the specifics) is that during dull moments like this, you must keep your "cool" obviously because there's no power, the home's atmosphere is dull, so your companions(you're not an exception) are expected to be hot-headed not ONLY because your burger steaks inside the fridge are starting to spoil.  So just keep your "cool" before the atmosphere turns from dull to worse.  But I believe it would still be boring if you'll just manage to be "cool" all throughout a dull day(or evening for this matter), it is even as good as doing nothing, isn't it guys hehe?  Making a dull day due to blackout even duller!  So another general advice I would give is that since there's no TV that has been only and mainly existing to provide your family entertainment, then try to ENTERTAIN!  Don't be a philosopher by asking me this: How can I do that, I'm a classy Accounting student, I've never worked at Clowns?  Don't be a clown!  Do an "effort" to entertain for both your family's and own sake.  So from this general advice to entertain, here are the specifics that might help:

  • If you're a relatively so-so "good" singer at least inside your house despite how you've remained "unappreciated" by your folks, then SING with feelings, no one might care if you're just guessing the lyrics of a song, murmuring out, point is, you're still a good singer(that's what you believe), then it might be one hell of a melody to their ears.  You might even relieve their stress brought by a dull day.  Talking about shooting two birds in one stone.  This is the strategy I've been blurting about.  Yeah!

  • Dance?  This isn't actually a good idea, remember there's no light(at evening, of course) so it would only be half-appreciated.  And nobody likes to be half-appreciated unless you decide to just dance Pandanggo sa Ilaw.

  • Radio has been a good companion during stormy days.  Mike Enriquez's voice can usually be heard over an AM station which is so popular, popular enough to bash.  So try to emulate his voice.  Which anybody, I believe, can do even with so much gusto.  Remember, it's presumed you are a good singer and emulating his voice would just seem chicken to you!

  • Declaim jokes.  The emergence of green jokes from text messages would never make this task hard.

  • Recite the Multiplication Table.  This is an "entertainment" provided one of your folks is an elementary Math teacher.

  • Give off Trivias!  Isn't this interesting as well as entertaining: Anctartica is, in fact, the largest desert!?  I've just heard you say, "Whoaaa!"

So much for the entertainment, this is exactly how one blackout has costed me valuable sanity hehe.  On a serious note.  It's inevitable during this dull night to exchange text messages TO one another(if your phone hasn't lost yet its precious batt power).  Given, this intense dullness could possibly give us all a melancholic melodrama mood, be it projected towards an OFW husband who has been working abroad or in accordance to our age bracket(if you also happen to fall within this range), towards a pretty/handsome barely-known textmate.  My advice is that control your damn emotions, don't confess your "feelings" right away.  For guys, don't act GAY!  Remember that blackouts like this can bring the crappy feeling out and if power later restores, I bet, the drama feeling would instantly fade to gray and you would return again to your couch as usual, turn the TV on, and watch news to confirm that it's indeed true that there has already been an official declaration of NO CLASSES tomorrow as if no feelings were confessed.  Aha hehe!

End note: Congratulations to our awesome team in Excelsior(a grander College quiz bee) for making it to the second round.  Hopefully guys, we'll make it to the Finals.

EndER note hehe: The UST-Ateneo duel is indeed too HOT to handle.  The reason why usual rains aren't enough and typhoon Milenyo thus came in hehe.

EndEST note hehe: After tons of patience and lots of armpit sniffing or simply after almost two days of unrelenting blackout, I've finally posted this entry and just to blurt, UST forced a winner-take-all match by tying the best of 3 series(1-1) for the UAAP finals come tomorrow.  Please(addressed to whomever), suspend the classes tomorrow hehe.

Top Weirdness Entry

I once promised months back(I can't even remember what month it was hehe), that I'll write about my top weirdness entry.  And like a Pizza Hut that promises a "free pizza" when it arrives NOT on the committed time, I'll finally write from this very moment in time the top 10 weird stuffs about me PLUS a little bonus which I've just thought of writing and it'll be about another set of 10 things I've learned from my ongoing stay in a stress-generating college called Accountancy.

But before I begin, some of the weird stuffs I strut maybe exaggerating or basically gross to some and would shock the conscience of humanity(even an aftershock hehe) but one good trait about yours truly is that he's a TRUTHFUL person and he can't stomach telling lies because even "white lies" could give him a severe paranoia of going back to the caring arms of Lucifer.  Main thing is, I've just decided to send off my blog to a radical makeover(not to a queer) turning my then serious, intellectual, mushy, chick-finding, lengthy posts to a much-preferred hilarious, entertaining, hilarious(did I just write it?), still lengthy posts.  I can remember that I sometimes wrote comical posts then but this time, expect a more INTENSE level.  But don't worry I would still write intellectual posts like the science behind the melting of the polar cap if time permits.  So much for the long prelude.  Let me now begin from 10 to 1, 1 as the weirdest of all.

Another 10 Bilang JPIAn

As much as possible and as long as I can bear it, I wouldn't share my life as a student here, in this NOOK.  It seems to me that I've never been SO successful at this particular effort and I don't think I'll be hehe .  Alright, this is the free "pizza" I promised to deliver in the previous entry, because of the "delayed" write-up of the promised "top weirdness entry."  Of course, it's NOT my obligation, but I believe it somehow is .  And I can't just abide about NOT sharing my student life here hehe, so now I'm, once again, about to share perhaps in good detail the 10 things I've learned as an Accounting student here.  As I write further and you read further, you might be able to notice that this very entry rightly belongs to the Reflections category hehe.  Though I'll insert a little spice of humor to make it more a little relaxing hehe.  Believe me that would be damn "effortful" hehe.  Here they go(click read more only if you want to hehe):

A motivation tool, like the one shown above, has been our companion aside from our calculators.  But, WTF, does pessimism belong!?
